Sarah, they both have two blue patches on the belly. You can tell this is a fence lizard because of the yellow/tan on the back of the back legs, which the sagebrush lizard doesn't have. Check out this page, it compares the two, http://www.californiaherps.com/lizards/p...

Either western fence lizard (Sceloporus occidentalis), which has a blue belly, or sagebrush lizard (Sceloporus graciosus), which has two blue patches on the belly.
