Most snakes no matter how harmless they are can have their moods. You can see in my spottings I love picking up reptiles (except rattlers) One day I ran into a gopher snake which I have picked up before with no problem. This one was not in the mood to let me and also would strike at me when I tried. So I respect it and left it alone.
