Leaf footed bug or Western Conifer Seed Bug? And what's the difference??
Thank you Jolly! And Aaron! Yes, I got good info on this very topic at bugguide.net
Now I know!
Laurie, so that you will not get confused, the term leaf footed bug refers to bugs that have hind legs that looks like a leaf in general. The species suggestion by Aaron is the specific name for your spotting. You only use leaf footed bug as ID in the absence of its specific ID.
I went through all the Leptoglossus again and based on your location and what I see in this image, I'm in agreement with you that this looks like Leptoglossus occidentalis.
