This looks a lot like a grasshopper from Genus Melanoplus. There are a ton of grasshoppers in this genus and often they need their reproductive parts examined to determine species. Here is the link to the Bugguide page for the Genus. http://bugguide.net/node/view/5379

With that said, I did find one that is in your range and looks similar, Melanoplus bispinosus, Two-spined Spur-throat Grasshopper. I can't say that it is that species for sure but here is the link: http://bugguide.net/node/view/171952
