Northern Paper Wasp (male)

Polistes fuscatus

Description:

These paper wasps show a characteristic flight, with their long slender legs dangling below their bodies.

Habitat:

It is fairly common around human habitations, especially where exposed wood is present and can be used for nest material.

Notes:

Not sure what species of wasp this is but there seemed to be quite a few hanging around the eaves of the cabin.

I think you have a male Northern Paper Wasp, Polistes fuscatus. Males of this genus have yellow faces. The shape and color seem to match as well. Take a look here and if you need, browse through the images:
