White-tailed Kite (immature)

Elanus leucurus

Description:

small white raptor with gray wings and black shoulders. Immature birds have a rusty chest. Some mistake it for an Owl due to the sunken look of the eyes. My favorite part of the bird is the way it hovers over it's hunting area looking for it's prey.

Habitat:

Usually flies over open fields, marshes and hills.

Lovely series Jellis. Good to see mangroves if that's what they are, although something has been feasting on the leaves.
