Grey Langur

Semnopithecus entellus.

Description:

Endearingly almost-human in appearance, apart from the slim long tail. Black fur on face. Black hands. Rest of the body grey

Habitat:

Seven of these descended on the two mango trees in my back yard. They ate the unripe mangoes and licked their fingers too. But they wasted a lot too throwing down the fruits they did not like after tasting them; unfortunately no chital deer in my backyard to eat this largesse. Then they jumped to a neighbour's roof and thence to a casuarina tree where they slept for a while. They also defecated on the heads of the unwary people walking underneath. Quite a Sunday.
