Erythronium americanum

Description:

Dog tooth Violet or Trout LIly. Edible Wild Foods, "Recognized by its brown-mottled leaves, this is a very common spring ephemeral wildflower and it is found in sizable colonies. Trout lily has no stem except for when it flowers then one flower appears per stem. Nectar is produced at the base of the tepals, typical of plants in the family Liliaceae."
