..and to make things worse your 'ladybugs' are not bugs but beetles. (In our part of the world we call them 'ladybirds' which is even worse :)

This looks like one of the Ebony Bugs from Family Thyreocoridae. http://bugguide.net/node/view/6985

Even though they resemble beetles, they are true bugs.

This is the size of a ladybug. Was on a staff member's shirt.

This looks like a true bug to me. Not a beetle! Maybe search Miridae or Lygaeidae families or Capsid bugs?
