Leptoglossus oppositus
Pretty reddish brown stink bug of some sort with white spots on it's back. Rear legs had some sort of "fin" on it (for lack of a better word...sorry, I don't know proper terminology)
Edge of wooded area.
Coreidae/Leaf-footed Bug, Leptoglossus sp. for sure and I think it might be Leptoglossus oppositus, but need verification.
And btw: Searching for the right word is exactly what you need for description of an insect! Sometimes you have to "lend" some words and it definitely sharpens your eyes for observations. OK, if you search for fin and beetle, you would probably not find anything close to this one, but you never know. If you would know what I am sometimes trying to find ;-)... Go ahead!!
