Paropsisterna intacta
A cluster of friendly (inter se) beetle larvae. This location has produced Paropsisterna intacta adults in the past but none were found today, being late in the season. I think these are their offspring.
Found under bark.
The eggs and larvae were both found under bark. There were many. They were at least 8m from foliage and their legs are quite short. It is therefore likely that they feed on the bark.
