Black-tailed Deer (and Emperor Geese)

Odocoileus hemionus sitkensis

Description:

I was watching the emperor geese and I saw these two deer approach. I think it was a doe and a first year offspring. There were about 100 Emperor Geese swimming at the shore. I am guessing the deer were looking for seaweed to eat.

Habitat:

Tidal flats in Kalsin Bay. Remote area about an hour outside of town.

Notes:

Photo taken during the Narrow Cape - Kalsin Bay Christmas Bird Count.
