Great Blue Heron (eating a Lesser Siren)

Ardea herodias

Description:

The eeliike Lesser Siren (Siren intermedia) is a favorite meal of the Great Blue Heron. The battle between both after a Siren is caught is fun to watch, much like when a snake is caught, it wriggles, squirms and wraps around the beak of the bird. The Heron wants the Siren dead before attempting to swallow it whole head first

Habitat:

Wetlands
