Great Egret

Ardea alba

Description:

Large white bird 39-41" tall. White feathers. Long yellow bill. Black legs. Breeding plumage of delicate, airy, feathery plumes.

Habitat:

Wetlands area.

Notes:

I had been watching one Great Egret working on a nest when a second bird flew in. There was about six seconds of activity between the two with one bird holding the other bird securely by the beak. The second bird flew off and the first one went back to arranging the twigs and sticks of the nest.
