Heteropsilopus cingulipes
Metallic green fly with long legs and clear wings.
Not sure if the difference in colour between the first two flies is because of the light or male/female differences. Info on brisbaneinsects think Heteropsilopus or Sciapus sp.?
Well it wouldn't surprise with global warming... I wonder if all these species ever meet up?
Really re: Austrosciapus connexus? Because I think I spotted one today - http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/157...
It has the black bands across the wings...
These have got quite long aristae which is often hard to see. Austrosciapus connexus apparently hasn't been recorded south of NSW and Chrysosoma leucopogon only tropical. I think this is most likely Heteropsilopus cingulipes which is recorded in our area. My spotting is at http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/159...
Thanks Jolly and Jill for your suggestions. I did see the Austrosciapus connexus earlier but was put off because it's wings are supposed to have black bands across it. I think it is definitely from the Dolichopodidae family but I'm going to try and keep looking for a species name.
