Yes it sure is perplexing. Apparently the cutters really respected these giants and even stood at attention when one went down... but I guess it's like everywhere - they had families and needed their jobs. It's the profit mongers that usually feel nothing.

Nice trees Joshua. There's a cousin (E.regnans) not far from here which was originally surveyed to be 526 feet before lightning hit it. It's now only 495. I think the loggers couldn't get into it fortunately.
