You have better chances for Burrowing owls in the summer. They are still present during winter, just the numbers aren't near as high. Don't give up!

thnx Ashley.
Two of our PN spotters have seen burrowing owls at Bolsa Chica. i spent about 3 hours looking for them. They were no where in sight.

It shows you are in range for Greater Scaup during winter, just keep looking! On males, look for a very rounded head versus the domed head of the Lesser, and on females look for a faint white cheek patch that the Greater will have. And all I can say for owls is go early morning and ask around if people know places! I've only ever seen owls by being told where to look by other people!
