Tokay Gecko

Gekko gecko, local name: tuko

Description:

Sorry about the terrible quality of the photos, but... we are very pleased to announce that a couple of our resident Tokay Geckos are now proud parents of a couple of little "tukos"! :-) Can any gecko experts tell me: Is this a Tokay family? Or is my imagination running away with me?? Thanks!

Habitat:

(House in) Hills overlooking Manila.

Notes:

1st picture: I was trying (unsuccessfully) to take a picture of the gecko on the left. I thought the smaller creature on the right was just a common household gecko. Later, when checking the photos, I noticed it actually looked like offspring, and... 2nd picture: it looks like Mum and sister were watching from above. Adult length approx. 30 cm / 11.8 inches.

Wow, I can imagine you miss these wonderful creatures if you grew up here!

I have such great memories of Tokay geckos from growing up in the Philippines. I keep hoping we'll have some move into my home here in Indonesia, but so far no luck!

Thanks Victoria! Yes, they're pretty shy, and only come out when it's (getting) dark and they think no one is around.

so cute! I've never seen one but that's Tokay ;)
