Orthetrum caledonicum
Male. Long, slender, powder blue segmented abdomen. Approx. 45mm length.
Karawatha Forest, (Brisbane, Queensland, Australia). Spotted around wet heathlands/melaleuca wetlands.
Spotted while out on Yuggera/Turrbal Country in the Karawatha Forest, Brisbane (4117). This fella insisted on having his photo taken! I was walking the Casuarina Trail in the Karawatha Forest when he stopped me in my tracks. I had my camera handy and took a quick snap and moved on. He followed me and landed very close by on a stick. I stood there looking at him and marvelling at his colour and chutzpah! I reached for my camera slowly, expecting he would fly off but to my amazement he stayed put and even moved his head this way and that as if to ensure I captured his best side! I think I did alright... Thanks for the laughs, little blue mate. :) Additional information about Karawatha Forest: https://www.brisbane.qld.gov.au/clean-an...

Hi mrsroyle, welcome to the Project Noah community!
I totally understand. I hope to see more spottings from you in the future.
Thank you Brian38! Project Noah has been a most exciting find - but I'm wondering how I am supposed to get any work done from now on.... Haha! :)
