Description:

A deciduous shrub or small tree of the family Celastraceae. The capsular fruits are 5 lobed (instead of the 4 lobes of the common spindle-tree), brightly red colored. When ripe, the lobes split open to reveal the orange seeds.

Habitat:

Mountain wood.
