Mexican Arboreal Porcupine

Coendou mexicanus

Notes:

At around 2.5 kg, these porcupines are arboreal, and have a prehensile tail. They are very territorial, and we normally have one or two in the garden, visible sleeping in the same branches on a rotation of every 3-4 days. We are often pulling quills out of our dogs' mouths with the porcupine smugly looking on.
