Tagetes erecta

Tagetes erecta

Description:

orange flowers in inflorescence, Asteraceae family, with ladybugs

Habitat:

cultivated, cold weather

Notes:

this flower is named cempaxochitl in native nahuatl language, in spanish they call it flower of the dead (which is not the exact translation), but this flower is traditionally used in the festivities of the dead at the end of october, 1st and 2nd of november, mainly. We use it to decorate ofrendas (decoration with this flowers, candles and the food that our dead familiars used to like, they come to visit during these days).
