Atlantic Horseshoe Crab

Limulus polyphemus

Description:

While surfing at Croatan Beach, horseshoe crabs were scurrying over our feet. In the over 40 years I have lived here, I have NEVER seen a horseshoe crab live in its native habitat. All I have ever seen were molts and live specimens in museums. What a real treat!
