An unusual Leaf Miner ? pattern on an Opuntia Cactus. This large one was about 3 cm in diameter. There were many of these on the plant mostly in clusters of different sizes. Recently I discovered that I had also photographed this type of pattern on a completely different type of plant, a species of Imapatiens, which have thin fragile leaves (pictures 3 and 4). Both plants are in the same general area of the valley. Leaf miners can be the larvae of certain flies, moths, wasps and even beetles. The next time I see this I will try to rear something from it.
Abandoned lot, with a large, old Opuntia Cactus. Semi-urban area on the outskirts of San Cristobal de Las Casas, 2,200 meters.

Me too Lauren. I'm still editing all the photos from Chiapas. I have uploaded about 100 to PN and I still have 100 more to go.
Thank you Luis :) Como estas? Te extraño!
Interesting find Lauren, I had never seen circular ones.
Thank you, me too, Mark. I am really curious what is making this one.
Fascinating Lauren. Hope we can sort it out.
Thank you Cindy, I added more pictures of this that I have also found on Impatiens leaves…very peculiar.
Interesting. Beautiful pattern!
