It was a day drive in Kruger - and our vehicles were open but with hard tops. It was in neighboring Mthethomusha reserve, the next day that we saw the baby and were open to the sky. It was funny because she wasn't concerned about us until baby started the alarm.

Was it a day drive in the Kruger? Sounds like an unforgettable experience! and very scary yes... one does not want to mess with mommies! :) (when it comes to their babies right)

Yes, he did. It wasn't really scary until the last few moments - when our guide was doing the Shoo-AH! stuff to get mom to back off enough so he could rev it and go! Those open vehicles give you so much more perspective as to just how big these guys are and how vulnerable you are. But also you can see, smell and hear everything and it's a more intimate experience than Kenya was for us

Scary! But at least it had its mom, the baby black we saw was an orphan... :(

He was adorable and it was a breath-taking encounter(literally) as he almost goaded his mom into charging us!

Thank you! Just wait until you see my baby white! Give me a week or two - I'm officially changing computers so maybe I can see what I'm doing ;)
