French Marigold ( Dwarf )

Tagetes patula

Description:

Flowering plants, or angiosperms-described taxonomically, as the division Magnoliophyta-are the largest grouping, within the plant kingdom ( Kingdom Plantae or Viridiplantae ) in terms of the numbers of described species. Approximately 260,000 species of flowering plants, have been named so far, constituting nearly 90 per cent, of all known species of plants. There are about 450 families of flowering plants. Angiosperms, are anatomically distinguished, from other plant groups, by several developmental and anatomical features. The flowering plants ( angiosperms ), also known as Angiospermae or Magnoliophyta, are the most diverse group of land plants. Etymologically, angiosperm means, a plant that produces seeds, within an enclosure, in other words, a fruiting plant. The characteristic feature of angiosperm, is the flower. Agriculture, is almost entirely dependent on angiosperms, which provide virtually all plant-based food, and also provide a significant amount of livestock feed. Flowering plants also provide economic resources, in the form of, wood, paper, and fiber ( cotton, flax, and hemp, among others ), medicines ( digitalis, camphor ), decorative and landscaping plants, and many other uses. Plants are eukaryotic organisms, that are characterized by there ability, to produce there own food. They are vital to all life on earth, as they provide oxygen, shelter, clothing, food, and medicine, for other living organisms. Flowering plants, also called angiosperms, are the most numerous of all the divisions, in the Plant Kingdom. The parts of a flowering plant, are characterized by two basic systems: A root system, and a shoot system. In summary, angiosperms are differentiated from other plants, by there flowers and fruit. Flowering plants are characterized by a root system, and a shoot system. The root system, absorbs water and nutrients, from the soil. The shoot system, is composed of the stem, leaves and flowers. This system, allows the plant, to obtain food and to reproduce. Both the root system, and the shoot system, work together, to enable flowering plants to survive on land..

Habitat:

Almost, everywhere in the world. Almost, everywhere on earth.

Notes:

I went into the woods, to try to find some flowers, to photograph. I came upon a rather large area of yellow flowers. The flower heads, were about 12 inches from the ground. The flower heads, were about, one and one half inches, by, one and one half inches. One green leaf, was five eighths of an inch long, and seven sixteenth of an inch wide. Each green leaf, was a little serrated, on both sides of the leaf. The leaf shapes, were - pinnately compound. Compound leaves - Pinnate ( odd ) Pinnate ( odd ) leaflets are attached along an extension of the petiole, called a rachis, there is a terminal leaflet, and therefore an odd number of leaflets..
