White tail doe

Odocoileus virginianus

Description:

Female deer that have no horns & white tails

Habitat:

Forest & fields

Notes:

This species lives in all the four seasons. Deer mainly bed down in cornfields to isolate themselves. In the spring the bucks & does mate. A way to get the doe's attention is for the buck to scrap his antlers on bark & make a mark. This shows the buck ready to mate. The way deer make noises is through their noses. Calling for their mom, calling for help, & mainly to threat others. Deer are becoming over populated therefore, we hunt them to control the numbers.

Hello Vickie. Welcome to Project Noah! e hope you like the site as much as we do. There are many features you can explore, but first you should read the http://www.projectnoah.org/faq where you can find all the advice and "rules" of Project Noah :-) We also have a blog http://blog.projectnoah.org/ where we post articles from our specialists from different areas and categories of spottings, as well as wildlife "adventures". There are also a support chat for technical help and a nature chat to connect with other PN users. You, like the rest of the community, will be able to suggest IDs for species that you know but that have not been identified, and make other comments on other's spottings, and they on yours. We also have "missions" you can join and add spottings to http://www.projectnoah.org/missions Note that most missions are "local". Be sure not to add to a mission outside of its boundaries :-) Each mission has a map you may consult showing its range. So enjoy yourself, share, communicate, learn. See you around :-)
