Red Eared Slider

Trachemys scripta elegans

Description:

Look what found a home in my friend's garden pool! A very good sized red eared slider, male I believe based on handling him (large claws right?). He seems content to be there and she calls him Bruce.

Habitat:

Red Eared Sliders are one of the most invasive species of all time due to the pet trade and I can tell you with no uncertainty that they don't belong in Kansas. The red-eared slider originated from the area around the Mississippi River and the Gulf of Mexico. Also Florida.
