Description:

Deciduous tree that grows up to 5 m. Thorny branches with small glossy slightly serrated leaves. Olive shaped fruits, one central stone, flesh white with a hint of green, crisp in texture, taste similar to apple.

Habitat:

Asia and Mediterranean. In Croatia, cultivated in central and southern Dalmatia. Prefers deep moist soil.Very hardy -25C to +40C.

Notes:

Also known as Chinese Date and in Central Dalmatia as Žižula. Fruit found on sale in the open markets from September
