It measures about 8 cm long. The male has throat and sides of the red-amethyst-neck bright, white belly and forked tail and the female has white throat and belly, short tail and not bifurcated.

Habitat:

It can be found all over Brazil at high forest edges, glades, scrublands, savannas, gardens and fields with trees
