Trembling Aspen (bud)

Populus tremuloides

Description:

This Trembling Aspen branch had fallen in the snow and was so pretty, I had to take a picture. Aspen winter bud and spring flowers. The fussy ones are flowers. Long-stemmed leaves rustle in the breeze. Aspens are members of the Poplar genus, which is part of the Willow family. As such they put forth the familiar furry silver growths in late winter, just like the pussy willow. Winter buds are eaten by Grous, Deer, and rabbits.

Habitat:

Aspen groves.
