Spanish Dancer Nudibranch

Hexabranchus sanguineus

Description:

Hexabranchus sanguineus literally means "blood-colored six-gills". It is a dorid nudibranch, a very large and colorful sea slug. The amazing thing about this nudibranch is that it both crawls and swims. I was able to see this one swimming during a night dive. It definitely reminded me of a spanish flamenco dancer.

Habitat:

Coral Reef.
