Pink Wildflowers

Description:

A wildflower, ( or wild flower ), is a flower that grows in the wild, meaning it was not intentionally, seeded or planted. Some habitats of wildflowers are: fields and roadsides, woodland wildflowers, wetland wildflowers, and dry land wildflowers. There are 3 types of wildflowers: annual wildflowers, perennial wildflowers, and biennial wildflowers. There are 5 different soil types for wildflowers: loam, sandy, clay, acid, and alkaline. By expert estimates, there are over 20,000 species of flowering plants, in North America, belonging to about 300 different families. Those that grow in the wild or on there own, without cultivation, are called wildflowers. Wildflowers indigenous to the continent, are called "natives", Others, which may be quite common, but not indigenous, have been introduced from some other part of the world, and are referred to as "naturalized". Both types share one common distinction. They are equipped to grow on there own, in nature. Flowering plants are called Angiosperms. Today, Angiosperms, are the most abundant and diverse plants on earth. The parts of a flower are: peduncle, receptacle, sepal, petal, staman, anther, pistil, stigma, and ovary. The parts of a leaf are: petiole, base, blade, tip, lateral vein, margin, and midrib.

Habitat:

Wooded areas with sandy soil. Live oak hammocks. Marsh and upland, sandhill and sand pine scrubs.

Notes:

I went out into the woods, to try to find some pretty wildflowers, to photograph. This time, I tried searching some woods, that were further away from my house. After walking in the woods for a while, I came upon a small patch of pink wildflowers. These pink wildflowers, had 5 petals to each flower, and a very small center. This flower, was 2 inches by 2 inches. All the leaves were green. One green leaf, was one and one eighth of an inch wide, and three inches long. The top of the leaf was smooth and glossy, and it was a medium dark green color. The bottom of the leaf, was a medium, light green color. The leaves had a lot of veins on it. The leaf shape was oval. Leaf venation, was pinnate. These pink wildflowers, were growing in sandy soil.
