The Northern Cardinal is a much sought after songbird because a royal red seen gliding through thick underbrush. This bird is also the state bird of West Virginia.

Habitat:

Deciduous and coniferous woodland. This bird is also commonly seen in rural backgrounds were the name 'backyard bird' comes into play very often.
