Hesperiidae

Description:

Caterpillar of approximately 4 cm long, dark red with yellow rings and long, soft white hairs.

Habitat:

It was walking on the ground when I saw it, on the Matiti savannah between Kourou and Cayenne.

Notes:

Any help with the ID would be appreciated.

Emilie, these skipper caterpillars are super tricky and also seem to be hard to find online....Ashish they can be so confusing, glad you started the search :)

@Reza: that's the one! Unfortunately there is no specific ID, but if it's a Hesperiidae, at least that tells us where to look. I continue to try and find.
