Brown marmorated stink bug

Halyomorpha halys

Description:

Brown marmorated stink bug at the edge of a wooden deck

Habitat:

Pacific northwest suburban area

Notes:

Spotted outside the back door of a residence. This native Asian species is "considered to be an agricultural pest" in the US. Attempts to coax this true bug toward a more exposed position for a better picture only drove it down between the deck planks, and out of sight.

Although for some reason the ID suggestion does not seem to have posted to this spotting, Project Noah member Ary did suggest the brown marmorated stink bug ID. I received an e-mail to that effect, and his ID appears to be spot on. Thanks Ary.
