Burchell's Zebra

Equus burchelli aka equus quagga

Description:

Largest of two zebra species found in S Africa, the Southern Burchell's has a shadow stripe which diminishes in nothern populations. Closest living relative of the extinct Quagga

Habitat:

private reserve

Notes:

When we visited Kenya the only good close views we got of zebra were of them moving away quickly. The thick brush seemed to make them feel somewhat more comfortable, although of all our spottings they were least inclined to hang around for photos
