Unfortunately, lost and discarded fishing line is not uncommon in the river. At first glance that's what I thought this was and went down to the water to clean it up. I was relieved to be mistaken and then amazed to discover what this peculiar stuff actually was.

It was brand new to me, Maria. And, Susan, there wasn't much flying going on, but it did have the texture of cold cooked spaghetti noodles.
