Panamanian parrot grasshopper

This insect is in the family Romaleidae, which includes the lubber grasshoppers. It certainly is an attention-getter out in the forest! :-)

I've seen several websites that mention a subspecies in Panama, but I can't seem to find better details about it. That one is listed as Chromacris psittacus pacificus.
