Eunica tatila bellaria
Forewings: violet o purple with white spots. Hindwings: like brownish velvet without spots.
Possibly Eunica.
I agree Daniela. E. cuvierii is lovely basing on its image in the link. Hope you see one also :)
Thank you Bayucca for the ID!
Thank you Agnes! You know, I have liked to see an Eunica cuvierii. Nice butterfly! Don´t you think?
I believe you are correct bayucca - http://butterfliesofamerica.com/eunica_t....
I followed Daniela's lead in her note where she mentioned Eunica as a possibility. Checking further now, distribution range is off for cuvierii, I did not find Argentina in its range.
Tricky one! Good guess for Eunica, Agnes! I don't think it is Cuvieri. My closest guess would be Eunica tatila and in this case Eunica tatila bellaria. Once more an example where the subspecies' look all quite different and you still have the variation between female/male and light angulation to see or not see the blue parts. And the perspective here is also difficult.
Agnes, please, check my link and tell me what you think...
Maybe a male Eunica cuvierii (Cuvier's Purplewing)?? - http://www.learnaboutbutterflies.com/Ama....
