Sea anemone

Description:

Its members do not have free-swimming medusa stage. In these animals the mouth leads through a short gullet to the internal cavity. Vertical partitions (septa or mesenteries) in the cavity support the gullet and have free edge on which the gonads are located. Body long. brownish. Featherlike white lateral branchlets. Delecate. White plumes. luminescent in the dark.

Habitat:

Docks or rocks from low water to 300 feet.

Notes:

Port Townsend, Washington. Under the docks. Beautiful. I could have stayed with my head upside down over the dock all day taking these pictures.
