Saturniid moth (larva)

Automeris spp.

Description:

This genus includes very colorful species usually with big eyespots and sexually dimorphic. These moths are typically found throughout the Americas.

Habitat:

Forest

Notes:

This caterpillar ended up on a colleague's pants and was stinging her through the material. I carefully extricated it by using a folded up latex glove as a barrier.
