Arizona Bark Scorpion

Centruroides sculpturatus

Description:

Small, delicate, amber-colored scorpion with very slender claws. Climbs well.

Habitat:

Typical Sonoran Desert habitat with saguaro cacti, ocotillo, and yucca. Found at the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum in Tucson Mountain Park at night.

Notes:

Female scorpions carry their young on their back until their next molt. This is the only potentially lethal scorpion in the U.S.
