Eucalyptus Longhorned Borer

Phoracantha sp.

Description:

A medium longicorn about 34mm; a single yellow marker on each black wing cover. Fairly smooth with tubercules.

Habitat:

Under very strong lights at night in suburban car lot.

Notes:

Similar but different to the previous spotting. Need to check colour/pattern variations. Phoracantha impavida only in WA. Check semipunctata (continent wide) here... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Phorac...

Thanks for the suggestion Adarsha. I didn't like the non-tubercular thorax, the segments on antennae, on Heterachthes quadrimaculatus plus the fact that it is unknown in Australia. .
