Hi Hector, this is a really neat animal!
I am sorry but I don't agree that this is a Nine-banded Armadillo. The armadillo in your spotting is quite small. The nose and tail are quite short. It is also very hairy. This little guy looks like he is partially rolled in a ball. Only two species of armadillo can do that and they are both from Genus Tolypeutes (Three-banded Armadillos).

I believe this is a Southern Three-banded Armadillo, Tolypeutes matacus.
Some info on Three-banded Armadillos: http://armadillo-online.org/tolypeutes.h...
You can compare your spotting with images of the Nine-banded Armadillo here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nine-banded...

Three-Banded Armadillos are not native to the United States but it looks like this animal was at some sort of fair. Perhaps it was an educational animal? Do you have any more info you can share about it?

Also, would you please crop as much of the human out of this image as you can. The focus here should be on this wonderful little armadillo! Thanks.

Thanks :)
