Description:

Prosopis cineraria is a flowering tree in the pea family, Fabaceae. Ghaf (Arabic);Sangri (Rajasthan) and Vanni (Tamil) are common names. It is the state tree of Rajasthan (India)

Habitat:

It is native to arid portions of Western and South Asia, including Afghanistan, Iran, India, Oman, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen. I found this in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India.

Dear RubyPrakash, Seema and Argee Bee, I favoured Prosopis cineraria, instead of Prosopis velutina mainly because of the geographical distribution and the finer details in drawings. I have quoted an illustration in the 'notes' area. Thank you RubyPrakash, Seema and Argee Bee.
