thank you Agnes and Dominik for all the research :-) now i'm more confident with my suggestion..
This one looks indeed not bad:

After a little re-search it seems that some of the IDs on the web might also be not correct.
Not sure if this would help, there's similar moth identified by Boldsystems and Moths of Borneo as Bastilla arcuata, although only Wiki mentions of its occurrence in India.

I am not yet convinced, more confused...

I am wondering about the role of this additional little spike...
If I may add, Bastilla arcuata is included in the index of moths of India - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mot...).
that looks close but not identical, so you agreeing with Bastilla sp. ?
Look at this one:

Sachin is quite experienced.
yes that dark spike is the issue!
i will tend to Bastilla arcuata, but range doesn't match..

We had the same problems some time ago, Dysgonia vs. Bastilla:

The patch with the dark spike in the middle of the forewing might be an important issue. What do you think, Nuwan? Do you have some clues about Dysgonia vs. Bastilla?
