Not foolish at all to use macro lens on bird photography! A friend of mine does the same thing and gets some great images...but she also has a second camera set with a zoom lens...it's a game of chance sometimes what you might capture with a camera or what is meant for your eyes only to see.
Thanks kd. It was shot with my Macro (Canon EF 100mm/2.8L IS USM with Canon 50D) on a bean bag at a distance of about 15ft (5.00m), hiding behind the curtain from my room on a bright sunny day. Actually one must be quite foolish to attempt bird photography with a dedicated macro lense!
