Green Turtle hatchling

Chelonia mydas

Description:

This day old baby Green Turtle was found in the Turtle hatchery at Sipadan Island. Green Turtles & Hawk's Bill Turtle lays their eggs at Sipadan Island and this are collected by the hatchery staff and kept in a nursery to protect them from predators such as birds and monitor lizards. It takes around 60 days for the Eggs to hatch, and the Hatchery at Sipadan Island usually keeps them for the day before releasing them into the sea at night time to increase their chances of survival.

Notes:

The location map indicates the location as in Indonesia but it should be Malaysia.
