Sacred Datura

Datura wrightii

Description:

Large white flowers, deep green leaves, growing in a bunch or a bush

Habitat:

Southern California desert

Notes:

I saw this on a hike in Joshua Tree near an oasis. This was apparently used in Native American rites of passage in the past. It is poisonous and said to be hallucinogenic. It is illegal to cultivate these plants.
